Administration
We offer two different types of product administration:
Simple product administration using our content manager
Simple product management is available using Smooth Step CMS extension. To add a product you will have to create a new page, add product information and image components there and CMS extensions will generate listings on your website. This option is very useful when company has only a few products (up to 100) as each product is presented in a handmade page with unique document title and description that ranks better in search engine listings.
Advanced product administration using Smooth Step DB
Smooth Step DB allows manipulating personalized databases. For product management we usually build:
Product managementAllows adding your products, their photos. Product table supports large amount of items, provides search capabilities. |
Client controlClients will have to register and create an account on your site to order your product. Client table is going to show a list of clients, you will be able to perform search and manage each client there. |
Product stockFirstly one adds initial product amount, then when some products have been sold - software calculates remaining products and displays totals in product stock table. |
Invoice tableProvides a list of invoices, they can be edited and sent via email to your client. |
Invoice archiveSince your product prices might change - after the invoice is sent to client it is moved to archive table. Here you can resend invoices, mark them paid or not paid. |
Administration user tableAllows managing users that can access your product administration. |
Products on your website
Once your products are added using administration software they are displayed on the website. Basic solution provides categories of products with their photos and text fields.
Online business requires several extra services:
Interactive shopping cartIf you are planning add an ability to order more than 1 product, shopping cart has to be implemented. Client will be able to add products to it. |
Client registrationClients will have to create their free account; activation email will be sent to them. Once it is confirmed client details are added to the database, allowing to proceed with the order. |
Online paymentThis area is required to calculate final price, collect client billing information and generate printable invoice. If sensitive information is collected this area is usually protected with SSL. |
