Text from content editing video demonstration

In this chapter I am going to comment text editing.

Let's open example page that we have created in our previous video tutorial.

To add a new block to our empty page we need to click on “click here to add your text” in content section.

This opens an empty dynamic box with advanced html editor where you can write or paste your content.

I am going to paste a few lines of unformatted text.

Content editor works just like any other text processor:

I am going to select first paragraph of text and set it as page headline.

Let's select word example in the second paragraph and set it as “italic”.

Finally I'm going to select “advanced html editor” in the last paragraph and click on link button to create a hyperlink.

In “insert edit link” dialog box I am going to add:

  • URL of our content management system page.
  • Link title that describes the purpose of this link.

After clicking "update", we can clearly see that the link has been added, now we have to save.

To edit a block of text your have to click on it and choose “edit block” from a contextual menu. This will open content editor box where we can edit our text.

There are two ways to add more text to your web page. You can simply edit the text block and add it there, or you can add many small blocks by clicking on the text and choosing "Add block" from contextual menu.

Ability to have a list of blocks in page content is a unique feature that we have developed. It gives a flexibility to edit small parts of text that load faster. Each block may also contain image or a special service.

Let's add a couple of them each containing a paragraph of text.

Finally I'm going to add a special service block at the bottom. Let's perform "add" operation again and choose “contact form” from “block type” dropdown menu.

After refreshing our web page that I have loaded in the second tab of my web browser, we see our content and a contact form added.

Service blocks allow user to choose where exactly user wants services to be added. We have contact forms, weather forecasts, product listings and many others pre built. All can be easily set up without having any knowledge about technology involved.

To find out how to add images check our next tutorial.
